You can make a difference.
At C.A.R.E.S, our current need is money, for a lot of reasons. Food, veterinary bills, staff, the physical building, mats, doghouses, cat litter, fencing, leashes, pens, transports, insurance, and vaccinations are all necessary and all cost money. These are just the essentials, much less the extras needed to make C.A.R.E.S. the type of establishment of which Clarksdale can be proud.
What's in it for me as a donor?
By contributing to C.A.R.E.S., you can have confidence that your donation is going directly to the needs of the shelter. We are proud to be a 501c3 not for profit organization... and all donations are tax deductable. While we have many areas you can directly contribute to, unspecified funds are delegated through our ten member volunteer-based board toward our greatest needs.
What opportunities will my donation make possible for this organization?
The more you give, the more we can accomplish. Money gives our long term plan the ability to move forward from our humble beginnings of trying to feed and keep dogs and cats alive... to becoming a vibrant educational community center teaching our citizens the compassion that can only be learned from animal interaction.
Socialization, which increases adoption.
Education, which teaches children responsibility and compassion.
Spay and Neuter, which decreases the number of homeless animals on the street.
Transports, which provides overlooked animals to loving homes in other parts of the country.
Programs, which will provide needed support to low income pet owners.
Brick-and-mortar, which will provide YOU the opportunity to replace our small, disease ridden aging facility with one that this community and its animals deserve.
What if I am unable to make a donation at this time?
You can volunteer! Our volunteers will play a vital role in the operations and success of Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort and Shelter. They help in countless ways by socializing animals, petting cats, walking dogs, driving to meet transports, or passing out C.A.R.E.S. flyers.
If you feel that you have some time, passion, and are dedicated to working with a caring and professional organization, we would love to hear from you! As our dreams and capacity of the organization grows so will our volunteer opportunities. Please be patient as we restructure our volunteer program to be the very best and safest for all volunteers. Join us and let's make the world a more humane place for animals…

Maude Schuyler Clay is a delta photographer whose work has appeared in publications from Vanity Fair to the New York Times Magazine. Her work is housed in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. The delta dog photographed in her "Delta Dogs" book caused Maude to explore the relationships between the land and the numerous dogs populating it. She also examined their roles in everyday life and their relationships to the humans who share the landscape with them.
When you make a donation of $25 or more, we will mail you a signed Maude Schuyler Clay "Delta Dogs" poster. Click the "Buy Now" button to donate.
